Support for Partners Navigating a Loved One’s Coming Out

When your partner comes out, your world shifts, too.

At Brave Soul Therapy, we understand that when your partner shares that they are LGBTQIA+, it can spark an emotional earthquake — especially if you've built a life together under the belief that you were both in a heterosexual relationship.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by questions, grief, confusion, tenderness, even a strange mix of relief and loss. You might not even know how to talk about it — especially when the world seems to only see one side of the story.

We’re here to help you navigate this in-between place.

We work with straight-identified individuals and partners in heterosexual relationships who are navigating the shift that occurs when a loved one comes out as LGBTQIA+. Whether you’re staying in the relationship, parting ways, or unsure of what comes next — your experience is valid, and you deserve support.

We help you:

  • Process the grief, anger, compassion, and confusion that may come

  • Navigate shifting roles, intimacy, and identity

  • Honor both your partner’s truth and your own evolving needs

  • Rebuild trust with yourself and reimagine your next chapter

  • Create space to hold your full experience — without shame or judgment

This isn’t about “taking sides.” It’s about making space for your story, your healing, and your wholeness.

You can feel love and loss at the same time.
You can move through heartbreak and still honor your values.
You can write a new chapter — one that centers your courage, too.

If you're walking this unexpected path, Brave Soul Therapy offers a grounded, affirming space to explore what’s next — at your own pace, in your own voice.

If you’re looking for support, we’d love to walk alongside you.

Felicia Hermle, LCSW

Felicia (she/her) is the founder of Brave Soul Therapy. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in parts work, integrating inner child work and storytelling to help clients reconnect with their authentic selves. Her work is guided by a deep commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and collaboration. Felicia built Brave Soul Therapy with the vision of creating a nurturing environment where both clients and therapists can thrive, inspired by the 12-step principle, “You can’t keep it unless you give it away.”

She’s mixed race—Salvadoran and White—and grew up as a 90s Silicon Valley kid shouting, “Don’t pick up the phone, I’m going online!” One of her simple joys today is filling her minivan with kids, just like her best friend’s mom who welcomed the teenage chaos with a quiet, loving smile in her eyes — and she hopes to be just like her when she grows up. 😉
