Our Story

I started Brave Soul Therapy at the end of 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by a desire to create a life that aligned with my values. At the time, I had a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old and knew I needed more time to be present for them. I also needed to escape the constraints, burnout, and trauma of working in public sector agencies and private non-profits. While I loved working with underserved populations in these settings, the pressure to meet “productivity” goals and generate revenue made it impossible to show up in the way I wanted—for myself, my clients, or my family.

Brave Soul Therapy started as a solo practice, but my vision has always been bigger than myself. I wanted to create an inclusive, welcoming space for healing—one that supports clients from all walks of life, including those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, religious trauma and abuse, or seeking outside help in 12-step recovery.

This practice is guided by my faith and my experience in 12-step recovery, particularly the principle: “You can’t keep it unless you give it away.” For me, this means sharing what I’ve learned and helping others find healing. It also means empowering therapists on my team to grow, thrive, and eventually launch their own practices—equipped with full caseloads so they can avoid the financial hardships I faced in my first months of business.

Brave Soul Therapy continues to grow with therapists who share my passion for serving diverse communities, including LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, body-inclusive, and BIPOC individuals. We remain committed to accessibility by accepting Medi-Cal clients, and we’re working to expand this offering. Together, we’re building a practice rooted in empathy, collaboration, authenticity, and the restorative power of rest.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey to healing and growth!

With Gratitude,

Felicia Hermle
